We had two unexpected visits from some friends recently. In February Nathan’s long time friend and room mate from college stopped by. He is a pilot and had a lay over in New York! We met him at Juniors and had some cheesecake!
We also had another visit from our friends Wendy and Jorge! They are friends from Auburn. They were on vacation in New York and came down to Bay Ridge to hang out and eat dinner! It was so great to see them and hang out with old friends.
Once again, it is snowing here in Brooklyn. While the snow does get messy and eventually causes some problems as we have to get out and walk in it, it is still fun to play in the snow. Furthermore, it is just so beautiful when everything is covered in white. So, today after I got home from work, Les and I went to the park and had some fun in the snow…Click HERE to see all of our photos.

It is a lovely 22, but feels like 13 degrees outside right now. A heat wave compared to our 18, feels like 8 degrees from yesterday. I thought I would give you an idea of how I am surviving in this weather!!!

The snow outside our window.

Step One: Put on several pairs of long johns under my blue jeans and shirt.

Step Two: Three pairs of socks and my snow boots.

Step Three: My down vest.

Step Four: My down wind proof jacket that does to my knees.

Step Five: I put on my ear warmer, my hat, and two scarves. I carry my two sets of gloves with me.

I am ready to venture out into the cold!
Continuing our tradition, Nathan and I opened presents early this Christmas!!! I think it was Dec. 22. Nathan was excited to get the comic book “Batgirl.” I got some “Hug Mugs.” They are these really neat coffee mugs that fit in your hand! They are great for Hot Chocolate =)
We were blessed to be able to travel home for Christmas. We spent a few days with Nathan’s family. Below are some pictures of our visit.

Nathan’s Paw Paw in his new coveralls!
We also spent a few days visiting my family.
The four generations, My grandad, dad, brother, and nephew!
We had fun visiting with Morgan and Tanner.
Tanner isn’t quite walking by himself, but will walk all over the house with you.
We also got to visit with my mom’s side of the family. Below are some pictures of us with my niece, Lilly. She is Brooke’s daughter. Lilly loves to play with the blocks!
Here are some more pictures of Morgan, Tanner, Jessica (my sister-in-law), and Lilly.
We finished our trip by celebrating New Year’s at my brother’s house. Tanner got his first Auburn football, War Eagle!!!! He enjoyed playing with Nathan’s Brooklyn Cyclones hat.
It was great seeing everyone over the holidays! We look forward to the next time we can visit.
Tonight we had dinner at our friends, Elliot and Heather Ruth’s house! I baked a cake to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and their children, Abby and Micah, helped me decorate! We had two small cakes for the kids to decorate, and I decorated a larger one with a Christmas tree, and the kids helped me put the decorations on the Christmas Tree!!!
Well, winter is fully upon us here in Brooklyn, and snow is falling. On Friday, I looked out my classroom window and could not see the buildings across the street because the snow was falling heavily. After school, all the students ran outside to throw snowballs at each other. The snow was so much fun until it began to sleet and then rain, so the snow turned to ice and slush. However, overnight on Friday, the snow settled in again, and it was beautiful. Click HERE for some pics that we took to share with you.

Last night, we looked out the window and saw that it was snowing! So, since this was the first time that snow had made it to the ground this winter, we put on our coats and boots, ran outside, and took some pics! We had a fun time, and we anticipate having more snow later.

Christmas is upon us and Lesley has begun to decorate. The snow village is out, ornaments are hung, and nativity sets abound! We love this time of year and are especially excited about enjoying this season in NYC.

We will post more as they are taken…
I start off by saying how sorry I am that I haven’t been updating our blog. I guess the time has really gotten away from me over the past few months.
First off I just finished washing the last dish from our first Thanksgiving at home! Every year we travel to our families to celebrate Thanksgiving! I usually only cook pecan pies, but this year I cooked the whole meal! Dressing, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, brown rice casserole, and green bean casserole! I made pecans pies and cheese cake for dessert! I cooked all day Wednesday and Thursday =) We had two friends over to celebrate with us! Of course I have no pictures to prove any of this, I guess I was busy in the kitchen! After lunch we played games and some other friends came over for dessert! It was a great day!
As far as life, we are just enjoying every minute of it! Nathan is teaching and doing very well. He has the privileged of playing in a Christmas musical! He is at practice in the city right now.
I am now a New York real estate agent with Citi Habitats, shameless plug: check out my website here and don’t forget to tell anyone you know that is moving to New York City that I can help! They can contact me through my website! It has been a very exciting adventure!
We just decorated for Christmas. I will take some pictures and put those up! I love Christmas time. I have been listening to Christmas music since the first of November!
